Merrett twins high on life

24 Jan, 2012 04:00 AM
TEN-year-old identical twins Christian and Noah Merrett are just like other kids their age, except they are among the thousands of Australians living with type 1 diabetes.

Earlier this month, the Diamond Creek pair joined 65 other Victorian kids with diabetes at a first support camp in Anglesea. ‘‘This gave them a chance to have some fun without us, whereas usually we would have to go with them,’’ their mum Julie says.

Doctors and dietians volunteer at the camps to help kids learn to manage their diabetes. The $900 spots are in short supply, more than 200 kids miss out each year.
